A lot of women around the globe are struggling with dried/damaged lock,
so if you are one of them your challenge is universal. Here are some
ways to refresh and revitalize your look
1. DON'T OVER WASH : Some people believe that washing their hair
excessively is for them but that's not the case. Over washing your hair
will strip the moisture from your locks, leaving you with dried out
manes. It's okay to skip a day or two between washing your hair, it's
really good for your hair health but if you can't stand grease buildup,
wash only the scalp of your hair and consider using dry shampoo between
washes
2. SWITCH SHAMPOOS: Your shampoo may not be good for you. If your are
using a shampoo that isn't specifically designed to moisturize and
condition dried locks, you may be unconsciously making your hair dry.
Always make sure your shampoo is one designed to moisturize and repair
breakage/damage.
3. WHERE IS YOUR CONDITIONER: A lot of women skip out on the
conditioners believing shampoo alone will do the trick but that's not
true. You should include a conditioner in your bathing routine, keep it
on for at least 4-6 minutes before washing it out.
4. HAIRCUT: No matter how gentle you are with your hair, the fact is the
ends of your hair is most likely going to get damaged either way which
make a simple haircut a requirement. Cutting out those dry ends will not
only revitalize your hairstyle it also promotes healthy, strong, and
thicker growth.
5. HOT OIL TREATMENT: Hot oil treatment is a great way to add dose of
moisture to hair. The cool part is that results are immediate and you
can keep your hair luxurious by applying once a week. While you can go
to a professional to get to done, it can also be done at the comfort of
your home. Get 4-6 tablespoon of natural oil( coconut, olive, almond)
and heat in a bowl for 10 seconds. Apply to hair, wrap towel around your
head and keep it on for 30 minutes. Rinse your hair and use a gentle
shampoo
6. AVOID HEATED STYLERS: Heated stylers should never be used on anyone struggling with super dried out locks.
7. DON'T BLEACH YOUR HAIR: Bleaching causes damage and hair breakage.
The harsh chemicals dry out locks instantly leaving you with silky
strands and if you are going to use dye make sure you are conditioning
your locks often and use special shampoo for colour treated hair
8. AVOID CHEMICAL TREATMENTS: It doesn't matter how fun and easy they
seem, they are very bad for your hair. Resist them as much as you can
but if you do indulge in chemical treatment, make sure to up your dose
of conditioners and moisturizers.
9. USE NATURAL HAIR PRODUCT: You should consider buying an all natural
hair product. Most will state their ingredients right on the bottle but
you should validate and double check. If any of the ingredient sound
anything but natural, it may be false advertising
10. HAIR MASK: Using hair mask is a great way to replenish your hair and
you can DIY at the comfort of your home. Two of our favourite hair
mask are the coconut oil hair mask and the avocado hair mask. For
coconut oil hair mask 'combine two part coconut oil to one part olive
oil' apply the mixture to hair, leave for about 60-70 minutes, rinse and
shampoo like normal. For avocado hair mask 'blend half an avocado with
one egg yolk' apply to hair, leave for about 20-30 minutes, rinse and
shampoo.
