HOW TO BAKE GHANAIAN MEAT PIE
INGREDIENTS
2 Cans Corned Beef
1 medium white onion (finely chopped)
2 cloves of garlic (finely chopped)
2 tablespoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Black Pepper
4 Cups of Flour
8 oz of Butter
1/4 tsp of salt
1 Teaspoon nutmeg
5 tablespoons of cold Water
1 Egg
DIRECTIONS
1. Prepare the dough by mixing the flour, salt, butter and nutmeg with a ladle until soft then egg and water in a bowl. Knead the dough by hand and then place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven at 375F.
2. Chop the onion, garlic. Heat oil in a large pan and cook the onion and garlic for 3-4 minutes until transluscent.
3. Add Corned Beef to onion and garlic and cook for 8 minutes. Season with pepper. Do not add salt since Corned Beef is already salty.
4. Remove the dough from the refrigerator and roll out into a thin sheet. Cut out round sheets to use to make the pies.
5. Fill the beef pies by placing the cooked meat on one half of the shell. Seal the by folding over the empty half and pressing the edges with a fork. Brush whisked egg onto the top of the sealed meat pie and place on a baking sheet.
6. Place meat pies in oven and bake for 15-18 min or until golden brown. Serve warm
I love to serve this with a nice arugula salad
